The Kinsotech UV-400 is a liquid triazine ultraviolet absorber that appears as a thick yellowish liquid with a density of approximately 1.07 g/cm³ or 1.081 g/cm³ at 20 °C.
The Kinsotech UV-400 is specifically formulated for ammonium-catalyzed or metal-catalyzed curing coating systems, suitable for high-temperature baking and extreme conditions. It is ideal for coatings requiring high performance and durability, such as automotive, industrial, wood, water-based, and solvent-based coatings. It is particularly suited for UV-curable coatings. When used in conjunction with hindered amine light stabilizers (e.g., LS-292 or LS-123), it significantly enhances performance and effectively inhibits issues like gloss reduction, cracking, foaming, delamination, and discoloration. In the eyewear industry, UV-400 refers to lenses with a high UV protection coefficient, blocking ultraviolet light below 400 nanometers, theoretically achieving near 100% UV blockage. The transmittance is typically controlled within 5%, qualifying these lenses as high-quality UV-400 lenses. These lenses provide effective protection against UV damage and reduce the risk of eye diseases such as cataracts, conjunctival macula, and retinitis.
